Wide interior of an industrial tool manufacturing workshop

Built by manufacturers, for manufacturers

Westman exists to make professional tools to a defined specification, repeatably, and to supply them to the distributors and industrial buyers who depend on them.

Company introduction

A workshop with real production depth

Westman manufactures professional hand tools and workshop power tools and exports them to distributors, wholesalers, importers and industrial buyers across multiple markets. The company operates its own forging, machining, heat treatment, finishing and assembly resources.

That structure matters. When a buyer asks for a different jaw profile, a modified handle or a specific plating thickness, the answer is not "we will ask the supplier". It is a design change reviewed by our engineers, a revised drawing, a first article and a production plan.

Westman is based in Ludhiana, Punjab, in India's tool-making belt. Our registered office and main plant are in Focal Point, Phase II, Ludhiana, and we draw on specialist partners elsewhere in Punjab for drop forging (Jalandhar), CNC machining (Patiala), third-party calibration and test reports (Mohali), export warehousing near the Attari crossing (Amritsar) and regional spare-parts service (Jagraon). Being inside this cluster is a practical advantage: forging dies, heat treatment, plating and packaging suppliers are all within a short truck move.

Manufacturing philosophy

Three principles behind every tool

A tool is a simple object with an unforgiving work environment. Our production decisions start from that reality.

01

Material before machine

A perfectly machined component made from unsuitable steel still fails early. Material grade is confirmed at incoming inspection, because no amount of downstream precision can compensate for the wrong billet.

02

Hardness with tolerance

Hardened surfaces must resist wear without becoming brittle. Treatment recipes are defined per product so hardness, toughness and dimensional stability are balanced rather than maximised in isolation.

03

Consistency across batches

A distributor's reputation depends on the tenth container matching the first. Process parameters are recorded per lot so a repeat order can be produced to the same condition as the approved sample.

Experience

How the company developed

Sample milestones — replace the years and descriptions with your actual company history before going live.

1998 — Sample

Workshop founded

Westman begins as a small repair and finishing workshop servicing local mechanics and assembly plants, building the machining and grinding capability it still uses today.

2004 — Sample

Forging added in-house

Closed-die forging presses are introduced for pliers, hammers and wrench bodies, removing the largest external dependency in the product range.

2010 — Sample

CNC machining cell

Multi-axis machining centres are added for jaws, heads, handles and power tool housings, tightening tolerances on the parts that define a tool's feel.

2016 — Sample

First export programme

Private-label production begins for overseas distributors, with packaging and carton planning developed as an in-house function.

2021 — Sample

Power tool assembly

Assembly and functional testing of workshop power tools is brought in-house, covering drills, grinders, cutters and rotary tools.

Today — Sample

Multi-market supply

Westman supplies distributors and industrial buyers across an expanding list of export markets, with a catalogue built for repeat ordering.

Mission and vision

What we are working towards

Close-up of a metalworking component being machined

Our mission

To manufacture professional hand tools and workshop power tools that perform predictably, are delivered on the agreed schedule and are supported by honest technical information — so our business partners can sell with confidence.

Our vision

To be recognised as a dependable manufacturing partner for distributors and industrial buyers — growing by improving tooling, process control and product range rather than by competing on price alone.

Manufacturing capabilities

What we can produce in-house

From raw material selection to a sealed export carton, the full tool-making sequence runs under our own roof.

Full process detail

Material control

Steel grade selection, mill certificate review and batch identification on receipt.

Drop forging

Closed-die forging for plier bodies, hammer heads, spanner rings and wrench profiles.

CNC machining

Multi-axis centres for jaws, heads, handles, sockets and power tool housings.

Heat treatment

Furnace hardening and tempering with defined recipes per product family.

Grinding & finishing

Profile grinding, polishing, plating and protective coating to specification.

Assembly

Riveting, handle fitting, power tool assembly and functional adjustment by hand.

Testing & inspection

Dimensional, hardness, functional and visual checks with documented results.

Packing & export

Blister, hang-tag and carton packing with palletising and container loading plans.

Quality-focused approach

Quality is a production step

Checking finished products is the last possible moment to discover a problem. Our approach is to move inspection upstream, so defects are found at the machine that can still correct them.

  • Incoming steel verified against grade and mechanical requirement
  • Forging and machining checked against the released drawing
  • Hardness verified after treatment, before finishing
  • Moving parts functionally tested for alignment and play
  • Power tools run-tested under load before packing
  • Final inspection against the approved sample and packing list

Company values

The standards we hold ourselves to

01

Precision

Dimensions are drawn, released and measured. A tool that feels different between batches is a manufacturing defect, not a preference.

02

Durability

Materials and treatments are chosen for the working environment a tool actually faces, not for the lowest cost that passes a paper specification.

03

Honesty

Specifications, tolerances and lead times are stated as they are. If a request cannot be met, we say so before the order is placed.

04

Partnership

We build long-term supply relationships, not single transactions. Repeat orders are supported from the same drawings and process records.

05

Safety

Guarding, tool geometry and assembly are designed so the tool can be used correctly by a busy workshop, not only by a trained specialist.

06

Continuous improvement

Field feedback and inspection records feed back into tooling and process design, so each production run is better than the one before it.
