Industrial metalworking machinery in operation on the factory floor

Ten stages, one production line

From steel billet to sealed export carton, every tool follows the same controlled sequence so results are repeatable on every batch.

Process overview

Material in one end, finished tools out the other

Production is arranged in a single forward flow. A part moves from heat treatment to finishing to assembly without crossing back over an earlier stage, which keeps handling damage and mixed-lot risk down.

Each stage has its own equipment, operators and inspection points. Where a check exists, it is recorded against the production lot so a repeat order can be reproduced.

Stages

10 controlled operations, from goods-in to dispatch

Traceability

Production lot recorded at forging, treatment and packing

Tooling

Dies, jigs and gauges designed and maintained in-house

Outsourcing

None for critical operations on core hand tool ranges

Manufacturing stages

The process, stage by stage

Ten operations that every tool passes through, whether it is a 200 mm plier or a 2400 W cut-off machine.

Raw Material Selection

Steel grade is selected against the mechanical duty of the tool, not simply against cost. Billets and bars are received with mill documentation, and material is identified by heat number so a lot can be traced through the entire process.

Forging

Cut material is heated to the forging window and closed-die forged. Forging aligns the grain flow, which is what allows a plier body or wrench ring to carry load without a weak machined seam.

CNC Machining

Machining centres and lathes produce the features that define performance: jaw profiles, screw threads, pivot holes, handle flats, wrench rings and power tool housings. In-process probing supports first-off verification.

3-axis & multi-axis Turning First-article check

Grinding

Profile grinding brings hardened parts to their final geometry. Working edges, jaw faces and bearing surfaces are ground to size so the tool works as designed rather than merely fitting together.

Heat Treatment

Components are hardened and tempered in controlled furnaces. Each product family has its own recipe so that wear resistance, toughness and dimensional stability are balanced instead of maximised in isolation.

Surface Finishing

Polishing, plating and coating are applied to meet the agreed specification and appearance. Finish is a functional requirement: it affects corrosion resistance, marking legibility and grip.

Chrome plating Anti-corrosion coating Laser marking

Assembly

Riveting, handle fitting, spring insertion and power tool assembly are carried out on dedicated benches. Assembly is the last point where a tool can be adjusted, so alignment and free movement are checked here.

Quality Inspection

Dimensional, hardness, functional and visual inspections are carried out against the released drawing and the approved sample. Results are recorded against the production lot.

Packaging

Tools are packed in the format agreed for the market: hang tags, blister cards, PVC pouches, moulded trays or plain bulk cartons. Cartons are labelled with the product code, quantity and batch reference.

Dispatch

Cartons are counted against the packing list, palletised and loaded. The shipping file — invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and any requested documents — is prepared with the consignment.
